The Victorian Doctors Health Program (VDHP) has been established to ensure that a full time
dedicated service is available to meet the needs of sick
and impaired doctors and medical students.
It is a fully independent legal entity, and operates independently
from any other organisation.
We provide prompt advice to doctors and medical students
who feel at risk, or who think that they may have a problem.
Advice is also provided to anyone who is concerned about
a doctor or medical student. This includes family, friends,
professional colleagues, and hospital and clinical staff.
The practice of medicine confers no protection from illness,
including substance abuse and dependence, and mental health
problems.
Since the commencement of the program, the VDHP has assisted
doctors and medical students who have presented with numerous
problems ranging from those having a mild to moderate impact
on quality of life, to those threatening careers and lives.
VDHP deals with each individual case on its merits, and
offers a range of interventions.
Our program is confidential, and we conduct our service
with the utmost discretion. Anonymous enquiries are welcome. |
